The Nassarawa state police command has arrested 25-year-old Mwuese Keleve, for killing her three-day old baby and dumping her remains in a river in the Kadarko area of Keana Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
Confirming the incident to Northern City News, the state police public relations officer, Idirisu Kennedy, said the command received a report of a baby that was dumped in a river. Upon investigation, the mother of the baby was arrested. When interrogated, the suspected confessed to killing her child but did not give any reason for committing the act.
The suspect's husband, Fanen Peter, expressed shock at his wife. According to him, his wife has no record of mental illness and so her action is quite a shocking one. He said they have been married for 15 years and have two children. The deceased was their latest child.
The police spokesperson said that when investigations are over, the suspect would be charged to court.
